Matthew J. Furlong received the American History Association's Bernadotte E. Schmitt
Grant for Research in European, African, or Asian History; the Albert J. Beveridge Grant for Research in the History of the Western Hemisphere (also from the AHA); a grant from Program for Cultural Cooperation from the Spanish Ministry of Culture; and the fellowship for the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad. The first three awards will fund dissertation research in Spain, while the last award will fund research in Mexico.
