- Congratulations to Jim Cavanagh! He recently received an NRSA Fellowship Award from NIH for his project titled, "How Stress Alters Neural Systems of Reinforcement: A Model of Depressive Etiology." (09-08-2008)
- Congratulations to Drs. Andrea Chambers and Maria Marquine, 2008 co-winners of the Gwen Weiner Dissertation Award. This award is funded by Ms. Gwen Weiner, a member of the SBS Advisory Council, for an outstanding thesis by a student in clinical psychology. The Dissertation Award is selected based on the quality of the empirical research and the study's relevance to the treatment or understanding of clinical disorders. Dr. Marquine's dissertation is entitled: Self-knowledge and self-referential processing in memory disorders: Implications for neuropsychological rehabilitation. Dr. Chambers's dissertation is entitled: Relaxation during pregnancy to reduce stress and anxiety and their associated complications. Congratulations to our two winders of this inaugural award! - Psychology Professor Terry Daniel and Assistant Professor Reid Fontaine were both successful in their competition for a 2008/2009 Udall Center Fellowship. Dr. Daniel's award was one of two Udall fellowships offered by the Institute for the Study of Planet Earth (ISPE), and Dr. Fontaine's award was one of two offered by Dean Ed Donnerstein and the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The fellowships provide for one semester's release from teaching to pursue policy-related research and scholarship. (04-17-2008)
